Listing of Former Citizen of the Year Award Recipients

Each year since 1982, the Club confers a Citizen of the Year Award to one or two national leaders who exhibit bipartisan spirit while working to accomplish national objectives. This award is presented at a mid-year reception or dinner, usually in July or September, held in the environs of Capitol Hill.

Additionally, the Club holds three regularly scheduled events each year on Capitol Hill featuring Southern Maryland specialties from St. Mary’s County, such as oysters and stuffed ham:

The State of the Union Reception is on the night of the President's annual address to the Congress, in late January or early February.

The Oysters and Wild Game Reception in April or early May includes dishes of game such as wild duck, goose and venison from the past hunting season.

The End of Session Reception, in November or December, as Congress works towards its year-end adjournment.

The annual events at the club's island are the Crab Feast, in mid-to- late July, and the Oyster Roast in late October or early November. The club’s skeet range is open at each event for those who enjoy field sports.
